Talks & Keynotes
Talks on IT Security
I deliver talks and keynotes on current IT security topics at conferences, corporate events, and internal meetings. Each talk draws on peer-reviewed research and is adapted to your audience. My own work has been published at USENIX Security and ACM CCS, the highest-ranked conferences in IT security (A* ranking).
Topics
- IT Security for Organizations: Current threats, protective measures, and strategies, both technical and organizational. How organizations can protect against ransomware, phishing, and supply chain attacks.
- Usable Security & Privacy: Why security measures fail when they are not user-friendly — and how to do better. Based on my own research findings on developer workflows and user behavior in security decisions.
- Secret Management and Code Security: How API keys, passwords, and certificates accidentally end up in code repositories — and what organizations can do about it. Insights from my USENIX Security study surveying 109 developers.
- AI and Cybersecurity: Opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in IT security — from AI-powered attacks to the use of AI in defense.
- Cryptographic Agility: Why updating cryptographic implementations is so difficult in practice — and what strategies development teams employ. Based on my interview study with 21 experienced software developers (USENIX Security 2025).
- Regulatory Requirements: NIS2, GDPR, and ISO 27001 explained clearly — what organizations need to do and which deadlines apply.
Scientific Conference Talks
I have presented my own research at the following international top-tier conferences:
- USENIX Security 2025: Interview study on experiences, practices, and challenges of updating cryptographic code.
- USENIX Security 2023: Mixed-methods study on handling confidential credentials in source code repositories (14 interviews, 109 surveyed developers).
Formats
Talks are available in various formats and tailored to the respective audience:
- Conference Talks: 20–45 minutes, scientifically grounded, for expert audiences. With current research data and concrete recommendations.
- Keynotes: 30–60 minutes, accessibly presented for mixed audiences of technical and management staff. Complex topics made understandable, but with substance.
- Corporate Talks: Individually tailored to the specific challenges and interests of your team. Ideal as an introduction to a security awareness program or as a keynote for strategy sessions.
- Panel Discussions & Moderation: Participation in or moderation of panel discussions on IT security topics.
